Waterproofing layer for metal roofs: self-adhesive waterproof membrane.

Product Principle

APF-405W polymer wet-lay waterproof membrane（Self-adhesive waterproof membrane） is made from high-quality asphalt with added styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), functional additives, etc., as the coating material. The upper surface is covered with an aluminized polyester film (PET film), and the lower surface is covered with a peelable silicone-coated release film.

During construction, it can be bonded with cementitious adhesive (wet-lay method). The aluminized polyester film on the surface of the membrane reflects some ultraviolet rays and heat, reducing aging of the membrane during short-term exposure, and also reducing wrinkles and bubbling during installation.

• Strong adhesion, good extensibility of the self-adhesive layer, and strong adaptability to structural deformation.
• The self-adhesive layer is soft and conforms well to the surface, providing excellent workability.
• The high-reflectivity PET polyester film effectively reduces the surface temperature of the roll material under sunlight, effectively reducing or eliminating blistering, while also exhibiting excellent water resistance.

Precautions

• When mixing cementitious binder, pay attention to the water-cement ratio to avoid affecting the bonding quality of the waterproof layer.
• Avoid contamination at overlapping areas of the membrane.
• Construction should be carried out within a temperature range of 4℃-45℃; construction is not recommended in rainy, snowy, or windy/sandy weather.
• If dust adheres to the membrane, it can be locally treated with organic solvents such as gasoline.
• Use the special materials specifically designed for self-adhesive membranes for the primer and sealant at the joints.
• Do not step on or agitate the waterproof layer within 48 hours after the membrane is laid.If it is necessary to immediately construct structures above the waterproof layer, the waterproof layer should be protected more thoroughly.

Construction process

• Surface Preparation: The substrate surface should be firm, flat, clean, and free from defects such as hollow areas, loose areas, sand, pitting, and rebar ends. The substrate can be damp, but there should be no standing water. When the substrate is dry and whitish, it should be thoroughly moistened with water before applying the cement slurry or cement mortar bonding layer.

• Construction Process: Substrate cleaning → Marking and positioning lines → Detail node treatment → Pre-laying of waterproof membrane → Preparation of cement slurry or cement mortar (it is recommended to use cement with a strength grade of not less than 42.5) → Laying APF405W waterproof membrane (applying cement slurry or cement mortar while laying the waterproof membrane) → Overlapping of membrane joints → Fixing and edge pressing → Acceptance inspection.
